Envision Energy has officially commissioned the world’s largest AI-driven green hydrogen and ammonia production facility at the Chifeng Net Zero Industrial Park in Inner Mongolia. This groundbreaking development integrates renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and green chemical production, setting a new global benchmark for clean industrial innovation.

The plant began commercial operations with an initial production capacity of 320,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year, powered by 500 megawatts of electrolyzer capacity. Envision plans to expand the plant’s output to 1.5 million tonnes annually by 2028, supported by over 2.5 gigawatts of installed electrolyzers. This makes it one of the most ambitious green hydrogen and ammonia initiatives in the world.

The facility operates entirely off-grid, powered by integrated wind and solar energy supported by a large battery energy storage system. When renewable generation exceeds real-time plant demand, surplus electricity is used to produce and store liquid nitrogen. This allows operations to continue during low renewable generation periods, ensuring high availability and stability.

The heart of the project is its intelligent control system. AI algorithms dynamically optimize electrolyzer performance and ammonia synthesis, responding in real-time to weather forecasts, power fluctuations, and demand. This results in a highly efficient system capable of maintaining continuous, emission-free operations without fossil backup.

The green ammonia produced at this site is intended for use in clean fertilizers, green chemicals, and as a future fuel for industrial and shipping sectors. It will also support long-distance energy transport from renewable-rich regions to demand centers. Export activities are expected to commence by the end of 2025.

The facility has also achieved independent green ammonia certification, verifying that it meets high standards for safety, sustainability, and carbon neutrality. It has already secured long-term offtake agreements, further strengthening its commercial foundation.

Lei Zhang, Founder and CEO of Envision Energy, commented,"We cannot reach net zero without large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia. This plant is not only a technical milestone but a critical step in building a clean, resilient energy future. We are proud to present a scalable, intelligent solution to one of the world’s most pressing challenges."

Frank Yu, Vice President at Envision, added, "The integration of artificial intelligence and renewable energy at this scale redefines what is possible in green molecule production. This facility is a model for the future of zero-carbon infrastructure, and it demonstrates the practical impact of innovation in energy systems."

This project exemplifies a new era in energy systems, where digital intelligence and renewable infrastructure coalesce to deliver clean, exportable energy. By combining AI, off-grid renewables, and green fuel production, Envision has created a future-ready model that can be replicated in other industrial regions globally.

In a world urgently pursuing net-zero targets, the Chifeng plant is not just a production facility. It is a scalable blueprint for energy independence, technological leadership, and a cleaner planet.
